What is this?
KVAD is a roleplaying game inspired by the atmosphere of the Norse sagas. Where ordinary people break out of the norms of their time, challenge fate, and throw themselves at great deeds. The scale of these feats defines the saga heroes' legacy.
How to play?
The players create the saga heroes, the main characters of the story. The skald sets scenes and describes the world around them. When something is uncertain or dangerous, dice are rolled. The result decides the outcome, and the road ahead. The saga forms the basis for writing a kvad, immortalizing the heroes' deeds. What will your descendants tell about you?
Grant
In 2020, Rollespillalliansen announced a grant of 40,000 kr. The funds were earmarked for completing a Norwegian roleplaying game. 13 projects applied. KVAD took the win, on the following grounds:
🥇 "Rollespillalliansen gave 40,000 kroner toward the completion of the roleplaying game KVAD by Karl Otto Kristoffersen! KVAD was not only one of the games with the most realistic plan for release, it was also an innovative and well-written game."
The grant made it possible to print the book locally in Norway, and helped raise the quality of the production.

In 2021, KVAD was realized through a successful Kickstarter campaign. The project raised 453% of its goal, with backers from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Austria, Australia, and the USA. The launch was a success.
