Picking Up the Thread

The last post on this blog is from December 2025. That is seven months of silence, and I owe you an explanation. The short version: I went quiet here while the work got loud. This post is me picking up the thread, and a promise that the blog gets a more frequent rhythm again.
So what happened between December and now?
July became KR1's biggest month ever. At one point, four of the five bestsellers under five dollars on DriveThruRPG were mine, sitting next to publishers with offices and full-time staff. I run this from my kitchen table. Surreal is the only word for it.

Behind that front page sits a catalog that doubled while this blog slept. The West Marches Guidebook passed 3,600 copies and holds a Mithral bestseller medal. The Hexcrawl series now has three books out and three medals to show for it: Campaign Style and Encounter Design are both Platinum, and Worldbuilding Design just crossed into Gold after spending time as number one on the "Most Popular under $5" list.
And the first book I publish for another studio, Sandbox Playstyle Toolkit: The City by Seidmann Games, launched in late July and reached Silver within days.
Add it up and KR1 has now sold more than 10,000 books to 8,882 customers around the world, with 74 reviews averaging 4.73 out of 5. I recently wrote a short book about exactly that milestone (I Just Sold 10K Books) because the process of indie publishing are the thing I always wanted to read and could never find. The full book will arrive in 2027 and it will be juicy as h*ll.
Over the next few weeks I'll post more to keep you updated on the projects, the process and behind the scenes.
So, the proverbial thread is picked up. And if you want the whole shelf in one place, the Complete Digital Bundle collects every English KR1 title.
Best, Karl
